If a conversion came out wrong

Send the smallest input that reproduces it. Three rows is usually enough, and it is far more useful than a description of the problem. Say which conversion you were doing and what you expected instead.

Do not send anything confidential. If your real file cannot be shared, replace the values with fake ones that keep the same shape. The shape is what matters: a value with a comma in it, a cell left blank, an identifier with a leading zero, a line break inside a field. Those four are behind most conversion bugs, and a three-row file containing them pins down a fault faster than a thousand-row file without them.

Worth checking first: the conversion page for the pair you were using has a section on what the target format cannot hold. A value that arrived flattened, untyped or blank is often the format doing what it must rather than a bug.

If you want a format added

Say what the format is and link to something that describes it. A sample file helps. Formats that are read and written by real tools get added faster than ones that exist only in a specification.

Every format on this site is one parser, one serialiser, or both, working against a single internal table shape. That is why adding one is a contained piece of work — and also why a format that cannot be expressed as rows and columns is unlikely to be added at all.

What this address is not for

Nobody here can recover a file you converted. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored, so once the tab is closed there is nothing to retrieve — not by you and not by anyone else. That is the same property that makes the tool safe to paste into.

Link exchanges, guest posts and paid placements are declined without reply. Advertising on the site is handled through Google rather than directly.

Privacy and legal

Questions about data are answered on the privacy policy, cookies on the cookie policy, and the limits of what the tool promises on the disclaimer. If one of those pages does not answer your question, the email address above will.
